Inspector Morse, Complete Seasons 1-7 DVD
Editorial Reviews
Chief Inspector Morse has an ear for music, a taste for beer and a nose for crime. He sets out with Detective Sergeant Lewis to solve each intriguing case.
First broadcast in 1987, the Inspector Morse series is a crime drama based on the Colin Dexter novels of the same name. The show is based around the exciting exploits of Chief Inspector Morse (John Thaw), a senior officer within the Criminal Investigation Department of the Oxford Police, as he investigates heavy crimes in and around Oxford with his sidekick, Detective Sergeant Lewis (Kevin Whately). Morse is a grumpy classical music aficionado who loves beer, and who frequently loses patience with the earnest, but somewhat slow, Lewis.
The members of a church who attended a particular service start to die one by one. A young blonde hitches a late lift from a bus stop and ends up dead in a pub car park. A bullying, controlling womanizer who also blackmails his conquests is found garroted in his car in a garage deck. Morse finds himself framed for murder by an unknown mastermind and suspended as Lewis is seconded to DCI Bottomley, who is in charge of the case. Morse and Lewis go to Australia to find a witness who has been in witness protection for ten years, but this is one witness who doesn’t want to be found. A new drug developed to combat senility is ironically being distributed to teens at all-night parties and driving some to suicide. When Gwladys Probert, a world renowned mezzo-soprano, is shot by a sniper at Oxford, Morse, one of her biggest fans, sees a link with an earlier murder of a freelance journalist.
