This is, simply, one of the greatest series in the history of television. It may be formulaic, but it’s a formula that worked for 20 seasons. The detective side of the show was gritty and realistic enough to make you sympathize with the job they had to do and the prosecutor side of the story showed the complexity attorneys have to deal with when trying to prosecute a case and sort out often conflicting facts. Great casting occurs throughout, with many famous faces getting early career appearances on the show.
