In the aftermath of Praimfaya, the 100 must begin again. With Season Five, our heroes have to examine their responsibility to the new place they call home, and the future generations who will inhabit it. Can they begin again and celebrate what remains, or will the frailties of human nature cost them their one chance to rise from the ashes?
I absolutely love this show and have watched it since season one. I really enjoy the whole concept of the show and i am constantly pulled into the show. I also really enjoy the development of the characters and the build up anticipation for obvious scense arrising.
The 100 has always been a good show, but it has occasionally shown flashes of greatness. Jason Rothenberg took a treatment for a YA novel that The CW had optioned and turned it into a pretty good first season. In the second season though the viewer first sees flashes of greatness : the constant build up to the Mount Weather survivor’s inevitable decision to start harvesting the 100’s bone marrow for their own continued survival vs Clarke Griffin’s gritty leadership which leads to an alliance with the grounders and the eventual destruction of the Mount Weather Survivors. Season 3 felt rushed although the sci-fi AI story-line stood up on its own. The beginning which was a neo-fascist critisim featuring Ice-Nation and Charles Pike seemed silly at times. But the ultimate climax was great : Clarke has to choose between living in a virtual world (the city of light) forever where everyone who has been chipped will always be or to continue to struggle on in her impossible journey, full with the knowledge that a new nuclear armageddon is coming for the earth’s survivors. Season 4 was all about the quest for the remaining survivors of earth to find a way to endure a second nuclear holocaust. It was a spectacular season that elevated the characters of both Clarke and Octavia to new levels. If Season 5 ended today it would be unfinished, still the best season of the 100. The first three episodes are masterpieces that belong in lasting television lore. the fourth and fifth episode are not as good, but still incredible. I am incredibly happy that this season will continue on and also a season 6 will exist. CHEERS!
After season 3 I was not sure if I even wanted to watch anymore as my favorite character, Lincoln was pushed out. But, I decided to give it one more try with season 4. However, I really had to be determined to watch because it was hard for me to get into it anymore. I did end up liking it in the end and that’s what led to my watching season 5. I watched this season so far in two days. I guess that lets you know I really like it, except I do not like what “Blodreina” has done to another one of my favorite characters. I prefer the more compassionate and less hard-nose criminal who doesn’t care about anyone and I don’t even think she cares about herself. I think she needs a time-out as a character and the loving side (Octavia) needs to show more. Also, I like the way Clarke and Bellamy have evolved as characters in this series. As the more mature versions they have shown how much they have learned from being in the daily traumatic issues they are a part of. Abby and Kane are in kind of reverse roles, with him being the one who cares to her being the one who is totally self-serving in her addition. As far as I’m concerned she needs the medication for now. There is too much on her plate just dealing with what she has to without having to go through withdrawals too. Also, she would not need to stress so much and can function as she should when she is not so worried about getting what she needs chemically/physically to hang in there. When this is all over she can think about getting free from her demons. Kane needs to cut her some slack, support her in the way that will be most beneficial in the long run. There are too many characters for me to critique so I will leave it at this. I am into the show so keep up the good work! Looking forward to the next episode.
