The Bold Type, Season 1 DVD
Editorial Reviews
Revealing a glimpse into the outrageous lives and loves of those behind the global women’s magazine, “Scarlet”, The Bold Type centers around the rising generation of women finding their own voices in a sea of intimidating leaders. Inspired by the life of former Cosmopolitan magazine editor-in-chief (Joanna Coles), the series weaves together stories that explore self-expression, sexuality, freedom and equality.
This show has the light and sweet tone of chick-lit, which might be off-putting at first; do yourself a favor and stick with it through the end of the pilot. The complex relationships between the main characters, relevant plotlines, and a compelling performance by Melora Hardin as a Miranda Priestly-type who uses her powers for good will keep you coming back!
FINALLY a show that openly and honestly addresses women’s issues openly and honestly – without shaming any female behavior! They have sex drives, they have emotions and they express them openly, they drink, they experiment, they take charge of their lives and their decisions – they make mistakes, but they own them, and they learn from them (and by they I mean the characters).
As much as I adore this show, what I love more is the image I have in my head of young, teenage girls growing up watching this show, and learning from it. No other television program has ever managed to capture the formidable essence of the modern day woman as well as this show has. safe to say I’m obsessed (and if there isn’t a season two, I am going to be devastated).
Totally hooked up on this show. The amazon gift card to buy this first season pass was my birthday present and the best one ever. I cannot describe how I am in love with this, good writing, amazing actresses, discusses SO MANY important subjects and includes SO MANY important representation, including queer representation… I am addicted, obsessed and a loyal fan 🙂
