In 2008, I didn’t think I could ever see Freddie Highmore as anyone else other than Jared (and/or Simon) Grace.
I was wrong.
In 2013, I didn’t think I could ever see him as anyone else other than Norman Bates.
I was wrong.
Three minutes in to this pilot, and I was hooked. I don’t know what it is about Freddie — akin to magic….or voodoo….it doesn’t really matter. I actually grieved the loss of Bates Motel. I found it hard to go on when it ended, and held off watching the last half of the last season until about 5 or 6 weeks ago. I just couldn’t partake in Norman’s demise. But knew it had to be done so I could find some semblance of closure.
My heart is light and happy and free again with this new series The Good Doctor. I am thrilled to have my Freddie back in yet another amazing role. Seriously….what Can’t this man do at 190%? Naught, I think…
This show is fresh and enlightening and necessary. There is so much to be gleaned beyond a prime time drama. I look forward to the education.
I cried when I saw the good doctor rig a chest tube apparatus out of a liquor bottle and tubing with electrical tape. It was at that moment when I remembered being 4 years old and setting up an IV for my doll. Quiet, shy and lacking social skills autism wasn’t diagnosed in the 60’s; we were hidden in special education classes away from the normal children.
My prayer tonight is this series will reframe autism spectrum disorders and offer encouragement to children, parents and individuals with autism.
There are many of us in the world who want to use our gifts and talents. Believe in us
Not a fan of TV or and shows on the television. Mainly, I just don’t have the extra time to be involved in any.
My son is Autistic, a patient of mine referred me to check this show out.
Very well scripted and written. I absolutely love this show very much. My emotions do get the best of me watching… Because, I see my little 11 year old boy in the character “Shaun”.
I have made this my show now. I make time to engage and learn from this show.
I highly recommend to watch. Worth every second!
Extremely delighted to see there is finally a really good show that I can relate with and has captured a delicate part of a rising issue with young children around the world.
Fell in love with Freddie Highmore in the movie, August Rush, which is in my top 10. He amazed me as Norman Bates in Psycho. I remember well his performances in Finding Neverland, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He is an incredibly gifted actor. If the pilot is any example of what is to come, we are in for a real treat. The kind of treat that comes from putting together a great writing team, talented and sensitive actors, and a lot of heart. Here’s hoping for a good long run of The Good Doctor.
This was the best! I’m a nurse and a mother of an Autistic son. This show displayed the perception of the general public when it comes to people with disabilities, autism in particular. It’s extremely accurate in the behaviors and mannerisms of someone with autism. I was sobbing by the end because it not only showed to the world the things that people with Autism go through, how they feel and experience life an other people’s perception of them but it definitely reminded me of my son. Gave me hope for his future!
A very interesting and thoughtful show. I have a sister with autism, and I believe the show did a great job demonstrating the difficulties autistic people face, especially concerning the prejudices of others. It is definitely a feel good show and I think it will be a great medium through which to educate people about the realities of autism, and remove some of the misconceptions people have about autistic people.
