Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 Gag Reel Shows Behind The Scenes Gaffes [Exclusive]

Star Trek: Discovery’s critically acclaimed season 3 arrives on DVD, Blu-ray, and steelbook on July 20 and Screen Rant has the exclusive gag reel.

Star Trek: Discovery season 3 warps into home video and Screen Rant has the exclusive gag reel that shows the funny side of the final frontier. The critically acclaimed third season of Star Trek: Discovery took the Star Trek franchise further into the future than ever before. All 13-episodes, plus hours of bonus features will be included in the Star Trek: Discovery season 3 DVD, Blu-ray, and limited-edition steelbook sets, which are available on July 20 from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment.

In Star Trek: Discovery season 3, Commander Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) led the crew of the USS Discovery on a one-way trip into the year 3188. The Alpha Quadrant of the 32nd century is vastly different from the 23rd century Discovery left behind and Burnham and her friends are soon challenged to solve the greatest mystery of the galaxy: What caused The Burn that led to the collapse of the United Federation of Planets? Star Trek: Discovery season 3 introduced strange new worlds and reintroduced familiar ones as Burnham met new characters like her love interest Cleveland Booker (David Ajala). Star Trek: Discovery season 3 also made history by introducing the franchise’s first transgender and non-binary characters: Grey, played by Ian Alexander, and Adira, portrayed by Blu del Barrio. Together, the crew of Discovery brought hope and optimism back to the Federation as Michael Burnham finally claims the big chair and becomes Captain of the Discovery.

Star Trek: Discovery season 3’s DVD, Blu-ray, and limited-edition steelbook sets contain hours of special features like Star Trek: Discovery: The Voyage of Season 3, Stunted, which looks at the show’s riveting action sequences, a special look at actor Kenneth Mitchell titled Kenneth Mitchell: To Boldly Go, Bridge Building, which highlights the actors who portray the USS Discovery’s bridge crew, Being Michael Burnham, which spotlights series lead Martin-Green and Burnham’s journey to the Captain’s chair, Writer’s Log: Michelle Paradise, highlighting Star Trek: Discovery’s showrunner, and deleted scenes. But there was also a great deal of fun and mishaps shooting Star Trek: Discovery season 3 which were captured in Screen Rant’s exclusive gag reel, which you can watch below.

One of the highlights of Star Trek: Discovery season 3’s gag reel is that it focuses on Emperor Philippa Georgiou, played by Michelle Yeoh. Season 3 was the final appearance of Yeoh’s fan-favorite former ruler of the Mirror Universe but she left the series in grand fashion. It’s great fun to see that while Yoeh perfectly plays the cool and calculating Georgiou, behind the scenes, the legendary actress is prone to hilarious gaffes that crack up her co-stars and the crew.

The gag reel also features a cameo by Jonathan Frakes, who is beloved by the casts of Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard and is known as their favorite director. Of course, Martin-Green and Ajala pop up in the gag reel as well. Michael Burnham and Book spark a relationship full of action and romance in Star Trek Discovery season 3, but it’s evident that there were also funny mishaps along the way.

Star Trek: Discovery season 3’s DVD, Blu-ray, and limited-edition steelbook set is a perfect way for Trekkers to spend the summer reliving the action and adventure of the 32nd century as they wait for season 4 to premiere on Paramount+.
